Frequently asked questions

How long will the electrical report take?

We aim to complete the on site component of your electrical report in 1-2 hours for a standard non invasive visual report.

For more complex reports these may require additional hours this will be explained to you before proceeding if they are required.

How much will it cost?

Our standard reports are capped at the quoted price for the report chosen.

Should a more extensive review be requested this will billed be as time and materials. This will be communicated to you to accept before work starts.

What will the person completing the work do?

Every property is different, in most cases the person conducting the review will:

- Confirm the appontment time to visit your site.
- Complete non-invasive visual checks of the electrical system at the property such as: Street connection, mains cables, mains entry, switchboards, lighting, power outlets, fixed electrical equipment.
- Identify any defects, faults, in the equipment reviewed.
- Provide a summary report including any recommended remedial work.

Are the people completing the reports qualified and registered?

Yes, our electricians are registered withe the EWRB.

(Electrical Workers Registration Board)

Will the power need to be turned off to my home to do the report?

Yes it is likely that power may need to be turned off for a short amount of time to perform parts of the review.

In some cases where there is a fault or where a dangerous situation is found, the electrician may need to remove power to the item and make the area safe before leaving the property.

What happens if something is found that could be dangerous?

If there is an immediate danger to people or property, we are required to immediately report this to the owner / occupier of the property. We will make the site safe, however this may interrupt part or all of your electricity supply.

If there are minor areas of concern these will be documented in the report.

What options are there if a fault or dangerous situation is found at the property?

We have an obligation to make the property safe if when a dangerous situation is found, this may mean an interruption to part or all of your electricity supply.

We can provide a list of electrical specialists and contractors that you can engage to remedy the dangerous situation. Or, you can use your own electrician.
